I trained here, then I left to get outside experience, but I came back because gynae oncology is what I really love, and this is one of the top hospitals for it.
There's so much expert knowledge here, and it's an excellent team. Everyone's opinion is valued: the nursing staff, medical staff, OTs, physios - it's the best example of multi-disciplinary working that I've ever come across. You don't get that division between doctors and nurses that you find in some hospitals.
Basically, there's a good vibe here, and not just among the staff: you can tell the patients feel it, too. I like the way I can stay with a patient through every stage of their treatment, that's really rewarding. It's all about people, in the end.
On July 7th the major incident plan worked brilliantly. It wasn't just everyone doing their job, the way we'd practiced: people gave much more than that, there was a level of personal dedication that was amazing. It made me really proud.
